The short version. Aside runs entirely on your device. We do not have user accounts. We do not run analytics. We do not have servers that receive your data. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal information. We cannot see how you use the app, when you use it, or anything you do inside it. There is nothing for us to leak, subpoena, or sell, because nothing leaves your iPhone or iPad.

What Aside does
Aside plays soft breathing that is sequenced on your device so it never repeats, positioned to feel as if someone is resting beside you, to help you fall asleep. All audio is bundled inside the app and all processing happens locally on your device.
What we collect: nothing
- No account. You do not sign up, log in, or give us an email, name, or phone number to use Aside.
- No analytics or tracking. We do not embed analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, attribution SDKs, crash-reporting services, or any third-party code that phones home. We do not use the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) and we do not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt because we do not track you.
- No microphone use at launch. The app ships playback-only. If a future version adds the optional "responsive" feature (the presence reacting to your own breathing), any microphone audio will be processed only on-device, in real time, and never recorded, stored, or transmitted. We will request microphone permission only at the moment that feature is turned on, explain why in plain language, and update this policy before shipping it.
- No location, contacts, photos, health data, or device identifiers.
Your settings stay on your device
Preferences such as volume, timer length, or which side of the bed the presence rests on are stored locally on your device (and may sync via your own private iCloud key-value store if you have iCloud enabled — that data is controlled by Apple under your iCloud account and is not visible to us). Deleting the app removes these settings.
Payments
If you subscribe to Aside Plus, the purchase is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store using your Apple Account. We never see your name, card number, or billing address. We receive only an anonymous, on-device receipt from Apple confirming whether a valid subscription exists. We cannot link a subscription to a person. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Children
Aside is not directed at children and is rated for teens and older. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone — adult or child — because we do not collect data at all.
Your rights (GDPR / CCPA and similar)
Laws such as the EU GDPR and the California CCPA give you rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and to object to its sale. Because Aside holds no personal data about you on any system we control, there is no data for us to access, export, or delete on your behalf, and we do not and cannot sell or share personal information. You can remove everything Aside stores by deleting the app. If you believe we hold data about you, email privacy@peranima.com and we will respond.
International transfers
None occur, because no data leaves your device to us.
Crisis note
Aside is a wellness and sleep-companion app. It is not a medical device, not therapy, and not a substitute for professional care. It does not diagnose or treat any condition. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis line (in the US: call or text 988; international resources are listed at findahelpline.com).
Changes
If we ever change what the app does in a way that affects privacy, we will update this policy and its "Last updated" date before that change ships. Material changes will be noted in-app.
